As the world remembers the tragic events at the world Trade center two
months ago, i would want to remember the executed soldiers by the Jammeh
government seven years ago. November 11th 1994, introduced Gambians to
Jammeh's reign of terror with the deaths of numerous young Gambian military
officers.
When Jammeh condemned the world trade center attacks, i couldn't help but
get very angry for his hypocrisy primarily because his government is engaged
in terrorism against the very Gambian people. In fact the recent attacks,
arrests and dententions after the elections prove the dangerousness of
Jammeh and the need to stop his madness.
As we remember the executed under Jammeh, we should continue to show his
true colours to the world. We all know that his foreign minister will
condemn the attacks at the WTC when he addresses the UN, but we must not let
them getaway with their hypocrisy and sophistry. This is the time to stand
up and be counted in the quest for a democratic and free Gambia.
