This story is culled from bbc.I find it very amusing that the Jammeh
government is claiming that ,it doesn't want the Gambia to used as save
haven for people suspected of human rights abuse.Who are they kidding ?This
man[Jammeh] is one of most vicious of human rights violators in west
Africa. What would jammeh call the execution of students on APRIL 10,the
execution of Gibril Saye and other members of the armed forces on November
11and 12,how about the abduction of the Dumo Saho's,who have been held
incumminucado for months. The Gambia is ofcourse a safe haven for human
rights abusers as the champion of humam rights abuse is housed at the state
house in the person of YAHYA AJJ JAMMEH.

              Gambia deports former
              Sierra Leone dictator

The authorities in Gambia have deported the
former military ruler of Sierra Leone, Valentine
              Strasser.

He was sent back to Britain where he's been
              living since 1997.

A senior Gambian official said Mr Strasser had
been expelled because -- as a former head of
state -- he had not informed the authorities of
his arrival, and because Gambia did not wish to
be seen as a safe haven for people suspected
              of human rights abuses.

Mr Strasser seized power in Sierra Leone in
1992 but was deposed in 1996.

              The human rights organisation Amnesty
              International recently demanded that Britain
try the former dictator for murders and
tortures committed under his military regime.
