I never met sister Satang Jobarteh in person, only via email and on the
telephone, but I had no doubts about her courage, selflessness and dedication
to the upliftment of Gambian women and Gambians in general.
She became a target of the APRC regime and was harassed by the NIA simply
because of her resolve to dedicate herself to helping Gambian women and youth
to uplift themselves.
If an individual like Satang Jobarteh who set out to  provide needed
assistance to her compatriots without expecting anything in return is a
target of harassment, what then does this say to the people about those who
targeted her  for that very dedication?

In view of the fact that a lot of people in the diaspora did not know the
work that Satang Jobarteh was doing, I urge the people at SIMMA vocational
training center to provide a summary of what the center provides, it's
history and Satang's work in general. I think that will be a fitting tribute
to the  true daughter of Gambia  that Satang was.It si a story worth telling
and a legacy not to be forgotten.
She is gone but will never be forgotten.
