It seems nothing is working in Banjul! No surprise there - for the various systems in a human body to work they are first housed by a frame called skeleton. Car, aircraft, etc. are all designed to work within an enabling frame - chassis. The same is true for our houses, including my dad’s ‘Thatched Hut’ for my mom to cook our meals.

It can't be any different for a democratic republic to work - it has to have basic frame from which (or through which) all others function.

Surely, arrests, disappearances, hirings/firings, bogus court theaters, tortures, detentions, etc. are all problems and they hurt.

However we can't fight and win this battle by chasing these individual incidences (or should I say make noise about them). It’s not going to work and in the long run we run the risk of falling into despair and give up. Am not even sure if we’re not already in that state!

Reason for a second what we were told how God create the universe (or that maybe too abstract), but use any human invention, say a cellphone (from design to finish product). The methodical approach to get to the desired finish product. The same we should /could do - work towards our desired goal.

We can argue all we want - our republic never had collective frame of rules, laws & guides that are followed on/for all at all times. It has always been an individual or few dictating the show. For instances political parties were denied permits to conduct rallies not only under Yahya but Jawara too.

We need to work on these together! This would not require anyone to drop an individual/group interest. This is to institute a Republic - that’s all we’ve in common. That’s creating a Gambia that works for all at all times equally.

I can’t still comprehend our courts are trying cases of Yahya telling citizens when to pray or not to pray. We’re also debate the merit of the case based on law.

Forget about what are in those laws books - whatever is there besides government can’t dictate religion is wrong in a democratic republic. Or are we falling for the idea that our chosen present/NA could legislate religion?

Now you may see why I said the basic frame is missing. The courts are using what are in the books - those shouldn’t be in the books in the first place.

Let's make a republic - Jawara and Yahya both failed to!
