Subject: [blairptsanet] College Bound series at the Takoma Park Md.
Library

Hello fellow Blair parents:

The Takoma Park Maryland Library is presenting its annual "College
Bound" series on three Thursday evenings in October. Come to one, two or
three of the presentations -- it's your choice. And, of course, it's all
free. The library is located at 101 Philadelphia Ave. in Takoma Park,
Md. Please register for the presentations by calling 301-891-7259.

Here are the details:

__ Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. -- Dr. Lori Potts Dupre will present
an overview of the college selection process. A Certified Educational
Planner and former Faculty Research Associate at the University of
Maryland, Dr. Potts Dupre has had a private counseling practice in
Takoma Park since 1997. She has evaluated more than 350 campuses
nationwide.

__ Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. (Note earlier time) -- Dr. Ilhan Cagri
will demystify the dreaded SAT. Dr. Cagri received her PhD in
Linguistics from the University of Maryland. She is currently a Faculty
Research Associate at the University of Maryland involved in research on
second language acquisition. She has taught and designed SAT preparation
classes and tutors students in her private practice.

__ Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. -- Dr. Herm Davis will discuss the
financial aid timetable, scholarships, loans, work-study, college
savings plans, the FAFSA application and more. One of the nation's
foremost college aid authorities, Dr. Davis heads the National College
Scholarship Foundation and directs College Financial Aid Counseling and
Education Services, Inc. He is a consultant for Peterson's financial
publications, and the author of "College Financial Aid For Dummies."

Cheers, Karen MacPherson (children's/teen librarian at the Takoma Park
Md. Library and mom of Sally Hardin, Blair senior)
