Greetings everyone!

Good news: Red Cross International has been allowed to visit Dumo in Mile
II. The result of yesterday's hearing in court seems promising, let's keep
our fingers crossed...

- Dumo Saho's Case: Justice Kabalata Allows Appeal

Zambian-born judge, Justice TA Kabalata, yesterday granted leave to Dumo
Saho lawyers messrs Emmanuel Joof and Abubacarr Tambedou to formally appeal
against the decision of the Kanifing magistrates court to remand Dumo Saho
in custody.

Dumo Saho and several others including Ebrima Yarbo were arrested in June
2000 after it was alleged that Dumo and others have planned to overthrow
president Jammeh's government, and they were charged with treason. In a
notice of motion heard by Justice Kabalata yesterday relating to Dumo Saho's
case, lawyer Emmanuel Joof asked the court to grant him leave to file an
appeal against the decision by the Kanifing magistrates court on July 14,
2000, to remand Dumo Saho in custody.

Justice Kabalata proceeded to hear the application of lawyer Joof. There was
no representative of the State at the hearing. The court acknowledged that
the state was served a notice to appear, and even though the matter was
stood down for about 45 minutes, no representative for the state appeared.
Lawyer Joof intimated the court that he had problems in getting the record
of proceedings from the Kanifing magistrates court on time. Justice Kabalata
granted Joof application
