The following was sent to me by Badou Jobe of Ifang Bondi. Its unbeliveable
th hear that the GRTS seldom play music of Ifang Bondi whilst feeding our
youth with all kinds of alien music. Most of the music presenters at the
radio are perhaps so young that they don't know the signifance Ifang Bondi
played in the evolution of Senegambian music.

Dear Momodou,

Thank you very much for your quick action re posting Obituary Pa Touray
on the Gambia-L.

We heard that they are playing Ifang Bondi music all the time now on the
radio in the Gambia.
Very sad that a musician has to die first before people take notice of
his music.
Strangely enough the only other time the Gambian radio played Ifang
Bondi music on a regular basis was 10 years ago, when
all news items
about the Gulf War were introduced by "Nit ku Nyul", an antiwar song
written by Pa Touray.

All the best, Badou & Irene
