OB / Madiba,

The Secretary of Agriculture of the State of Florida and member of the
Eletoral Commission summaried it best when he said.. "Nobody said that
democracy was either simple or efficient. If you are looking for a simple
system..just go 70 miles south of here to Cuba where there are no
elections." The gentleman proceeded to assure Americans that the problems
would be resolved. Of course, he did not give us an example of an entirely
efficient democracy because none exists anywhere on this planet. The America
model is still the best there is. My personal view, of course.

Madiba : I am very delighted to see postings comimg from beautiful downtown
Vancouver.
OB : The situation here has calmed down a bit with all eyes on the process
leading to the December legislative elections. If the process is an
inclusive one, very little trouble is expected. Howeever, should there be
what is perceive to be a repeat of the presidential election in Cote
d'Ivoire, then expect further trouble.

Sidi Sanneh
