I do accept the fact that it wasn't a state visit as such,but brother
neither was i trying to justify the visit along those lines. As i have
already pointed out in my reply to Dampha,i wont' dwell on what state
visits,working visits,official visits or private visits or even stop over
visits(as some diplomats call it)....
Dampha,read between the lines and understood what i meant and this he has
honourably accepted,therefore,i am done with that sir.For Fidel's visits
here and there to be compared to what Jammeh's are, is your democratic right
so i will be more than happy to hear your version on that.
However Mr.Owens,as far as modern day diplomacy is concerned no head of
state rushes after states visits as such because they are more tense and
less productive(ask others please).Working visits are more useful.Usually
Gvts are asked by their hosts to choose between the two if a presdent is
intending to travel to a given country.
Some of us in Africa used to adore the fanfare of state visits but today's
generation (me,you and others) have seen the essence of accepting the
working ones more than the state visits thus the idea is becoming lesser and
lesser within diplomatic circuits.
Please, you are free to disagree anyway because no one knows all in life.
