Hamjatta,
It is so unfortunate that I have to get into this debate. I have read how low
Mr. Lamin Ceesay went on you, and I personally think it is so unfortunate
that we have to come to personal attacks. Your writings are very well read
and even does who might not agree with you most of the time may confess, it
is hard to see any postings from you without opening it.
However, I want to make some corrections on your last piece on Essa Sey. I
happened to know him since 1981 at Armitage High School and we have grown to
be close to one another despite our differences in politics, but I think you
have got all your information wrong. This might not be intentional hence you
said it was from a source of yours.
Mr. Essa Sey is married to a very nice "local" lady by the name of Nenneh.
They have been married since October 1991, and I can testify that is his and
only marriage. He has never been married before this and at this time he was
in the Gendarmerie as a mere Purchasing Officer. Those of us who know Essa
can tell you that he has always been a "local" and have never sighed from
being who he is. I talked to him in Fula and he speaks that language more
fluently than me.
I wish we could try not to bring familles into the issue because despite our
political differences we are still one nation. We instead need to be showing
some sympathy for the Sea's hence I know that there first son Baba Sey born
in 1993 is a handicap who does not speak or walk due to a medical condition.
I happened to know them very well.
Ebrima Ceesay can probably tell you that Nenneh is more of a "local" than a
few of us. She is originally from Saloum area. She was brought up by Mammar
Ceesay and Kandi Touray all of Njau area where I went to school and where
Ebrima Ceesay is from.
I just hope that you will try to get your story straight and even if it is,
let us take family out of our political discussions. This is really the
lowest you can go. I hope you could apologize to him. If what Mr. Lamin
Ceesay wrote to you is what is making you go this route, I will suggest to
you that two wrongs do not make a right. I was going to write to you
privately to clear this, but I feel I owe it to Essa and family for being so
close to them. I continue to have certain things against this government he
represents, but he has never closed his doors to me. I talk to him and the
family often. I will try not to wash this laundry in this sink.
May God help us all and bless the Gambia.

Ousman Jallow Bojang.
