Mr. Oko Drammeh,
Congratulation for this great achievement for making the impossible possible, you always warms up the Western Ear to the African sound (The Gambia). Spectacular Millenium Celebrations with double Compact disc (CD) of our king of Kora Mr. Jaliba Kuyateh and Soto Koto Band With The Mandingo Beat.
I think that Mr. Oko Drammeh should be award a Gambian Cultural Embassador in European for this great achievement he have been doing for African music in Europe and US. Oko Drammeh, Founder of the African Music festival in Delft, Holland since 1983 for past 17 years he has sponsored the largest African Music event in Europe through his African Arts Foundation.
Mr. Oko drammeh have been with Gambian Music since the exciting Afro Manding Sound of Ifang Bondi of The Gambia. Oko founds The Soto Koto Band 1989 The Soto Koto means´Under the tree and represents the great roots from which numerous branches of music throughout the World have grown. The Soto Koto Band is a celebrative mixture of Kora and khalam melodies with traditional flavors of the mandingo, Wollof, Fula and Creole Cultures. The new double New Cd of Jaliba Kuyateh with Soto Koto Band these authentic sounds weave through contemporary guitars, horns and keyboards to create an exhilarating feeling and irresistible urge to dance.
Mr. Oko Drammeh always say to me, for people who are new to African music, i tell them to just remember two things- the two steps of the feet and the two beats of the heart. I think that with this great achievement and we wish that The Gambia will always make Mr. Oko Drammeh as our Cultural Embassador in European.
Mr. Oko Drammeh, I want to wish you and your Family a merry christmas and a happy New Years, and spectacular Millenium Celebration with your coming double Cd Jaliba Kuyateh and Soto Koto Band.
Greetings
Bakary Bojang
