Brother Malamin:
I would like to start by wishing you a happy New Year.

I simply cannot accept the rigid fundamentalist stance of these learned mean
of the Islam. I celebrate most holidays. Christians and Muslims in The
Gambia have always enjoyed all religious holidays. We received awesome
helpings of 'Nan Mburu" from our Christian relatives and friends and during
Tobaski we returned the favor with nice portions of the sheep we slaughtered.

I have grown up to be very tolerant of all religions, including obscure ones
such as Rastafarianism, Buddhism, Shintoism etc etc. I make sure that on
Christmas day, we have a good meal on the table in my house.

I seriously believe that Islam needs a facelift. We need more progressive
thinking religious scholars and leaders to lead us out of these dark times

Yus
