It's about time for Colonel Sarr, Chongan and all those who suffered from
the hands of Sana Bairo Sabally to consider filing a torture case against
the erstwhile AFPRC Vice Chairman to the International court of justice.
Sarr and Chongan should start coordinating this proposed move since Sabally
has not demonstrated any sin of remorse on his past cruel and barbaric
actions against our people. A test case needs to be filed against him to
deter would be human rights violators in the name of governance. Justice
should be meted out to Sabally in the interest of fair play and equality.
There is no amount defense one can put up to defend a criminal like Sabally.
Defending Sabally tantamount to aiding and abetting a criminal who had not
only oppressed our people, but persecuted them as well. Our today's lead
story tells it all. On the whole, the mighty Sabally who off late projects
himself as a saint, preacher and a decent man had blood stains on his hands.
Thanks to these loyal sources, Sabally's past terror activities are coming
to light. Interestingly, the accused person Sana Sabally is ignoring these
damning allegations. Silence means guilt. Considering the gravity of the
allegations made against him by Colonel Sarr, Chongan and others, one would
have expected Sabally to defend these allegations. But no, Sabally is
treating these allegations under the carpet. There is no doubt in our minds
that his image has been shattered. A former army officer who worth his salt
and had nothing to hide would have responded to these pressing allegations.

Secondly, what gave credence to the allegations raised against Sabally is
his lack of public sympathy. There is no member of his family, the silence
majority of Gambians neither former and present members of the armed forces
who build up a defense for him. The average Gambian believe that Sana
Sabally is a serial killer, persecutor, a bad man with vicious
characteristics, the list goes on and on…. Supposed Sabally happens to die
today, he would leave a bad legacy behind. His kids and grand kids have
nothing to be proud of him. His future has been battered because of his past
criminal activities. History has already judged him badly. What a sad
situation.

We agree with Colonel Sarr. What happened on November 11 tantamount to
genocide. The Gambian situation to some extent can be compared to the
Rwandan genocide. These mass killings of Gambian soldiers spearheaded by
Sana Sabally and co without any judicial trial accorded to the alleged
coupists is an affront to democracy, the rule of law and good governance.
There was no justification for Sabally and co to take the lives of these
officers without giving chance to the rule of law to take its cause. What
happened on November 11 was a blood bath. Officers were murdered in cold
blood.

Chongan who is about to finish his Bar course should liaise with the chief
prosecutor of the UN Court Assan Jallow on the modalities of filing torture
case against Sana Sabally. Admitted, Chongan is a legal mind, but should not
be complacent in tapping different views on a serious matter like this. We
call it Sana Sabally's "Crime against Humanity." The information volunteered
by Sarr, Chongan and others is enough for a case to be registered against
Sabally. The UN court has mandate to hear the matter. Families of the
November 11 victims are alive and can also be used as witnesses to support
such a case.

There has been too much talking without action. It's time for action.
Victims of Sana Sabally's torture activities should come under one umbrella
to register a case against this monster parading himself as a bornagain.
Even it would require writing to Western foreign missions in Africa to
oppose any form of sanctuary to be accorded to him in the future. The likes
of Sabally should pay for their past barbaric actions. No mercy or sympathy
for them. Let them pay for the price. What goes around, comes around.

The likes of Colonel Sarr and Chongan should not be condemned but encouraged
to tell us their side of the story. These people seem to know a lot about
the junta and its past activities. Admitted, we did raised some important
issues with the two, but that does not suggest in any way that we will
support any move- be it from the media, the public domain to antagonize
them. The media is morally obliged to hold them accountable for their past
actions, but we should not lost track of the realities that ours is to serve
as referee and not otherwise. Lets leave the rest to our readers to pass
judgments. Period!!!

For the records, we deem it crucially imperative to condemn Sana Sabally's
past criminal activities and his apparent failure to defend his battered
image. It's also wrong for anyone to blame us for giving Sabally the
opportunity to freely express himself here on Freedom. Our's not to be
judgmental, but to give voice to all and sundry irrespective of one's
political affiliation, creed, color, religion, tribe or political settings.
As a leading independent media outlet, we shall continue to give voice to
all and sundry without any form of rancor. We believe in empowering our
readers.

Having said that, it's incumbent upon those supposedly wronged by Sabally to
counter his rantings. And that's exactly what Sarr and Chongan did. We
praised the two for exposing the past terror activities of Sabally. This is
what we expect from any true patriot. Nothing much, nothing less.

Finally, the United Nations Refugee office in Dakar, Senegal, should be
informed about Sabally's past crimes before filing the said proposed law
suit against him. Sabally's case is beyond politics, tribalism and nepotism.
It should be everybody's business to see to it that Sabally faces justice.
After all, Dot Faal, Basiru Barrow, Saye and others deserve to live like
Sabally. Jammeh with all his tyrannical policies speared the live of Sana
Sabally, who was equally accused of treason. What is good for the goose is
good for the gander. Sabally should face justice. We rest our case!!!
