   Ivory Coast foreign minister arrives in Togo for OAU summit

   LOME, Sept 22 (AFP) - Ivorian Foreign Minister Charles Gomis arrived in
the
Togolese capital Lome Friday ahead of an Organisation of African Unity
meeting
on the political crisis in Ivory Coast, an AFP correspondent reported.
   The meeting, to be held on Sunday, will group 10 OAU heads of state.
   Gomis is due to meet Togolese President Gnassingbe Eyadema who is the
sitting president of the pan-African organisation.
   The summit comes at a time of high tension in Ivory Coast following an
attack Monday on the residence of military ruler General Robert Guei.
   Guei is a candidate for presidential elections next month and his regime
has blamed supporters of his main rival, popular former prime minister
Alassane Ouattara, for the attack.
   The foreign minister was accompanied by an advisor, Guei's head of
protocol
and three traditional chiefs.
   It was not known Friday morning whether Guei would be going to the
summit.     Sources close to Guei said he did not want to go.
   It was also not certain whether other political leaders from the Ivory
Coast, who need authorisation to leave the country, would be able to attend
the summit.
