Nordam,

Your art. is a master piece that i find encouraging, respectful and illuminating the dark tunnel we're going through.Exactly!exactly! we must learn to be listening to each other in order to be able to arrive at a point where CONCENSUS will rule.

Friends,
I said it last year, that I´m not in for any censorship at all, but I´m in
for self-censorship. I voted "NO" against the dismissal of one member, even
I found he did all he could to ruin the list. Even he both on the list and
private offended and insulted other gambians very seriously.
I also warned against putting up rules and regulations, because I felt that
we should spend too much energy discussing if so and so was too much after a
certain regulation.
A month ago when a member misused his talent to send postings in another
members name, I became very angry and wrote "shame on you". And I still mean
that, even I know he has excused his behavior and has accepted .

Why is it that some people, who master this internet things and edb, will
spend time to misuse his/her talent destroying the good and positive things
we can have from inventing all this ? Why is it that there are people
worldwide who want to create problems for other people sending "virus",
which costs billions of money to repair and restore the damages of or to
protect against ?
I wonder what is going on in their brains. Why misuse a talent ? Instead of
being positive and do something positive for oneself or the community.

The same on this Bantaba. I find the bantaba very useful, so why on earth
are there gambians who just want to spoil it, spoil a fine instrument to
exchange points of views. And also intimidate one another.

Again instead of just putting your comment to the list, that you are against
censorship, a few of you at the same time discredited and even insulted one
of the managers personally.
I´m against censorship and I even miss many of the religious (say islamic)
postings. (It is the postings which relate the islamic believes and
practice to the gambian society, family , social and cultural tradition, I
miss. Not the prayers or interpretation of the holy koran. Since march I
have held back a comment I have on postings related to "the islamic marriage
and divorce")
And I´m also missing information from Mr. Tombong Saidy. I don´t hope that
he keeps silent now, just because he personally was insulted for sending
information. I believe that I need all kind and sources of information, to
better form my own opinion and get my knowledge. Even I like the message or
not. Instead of "killing" the messenger, we should try reading and listening
to one another, even we don´t like the readings, comments. Then we can
comment, put two and two together, be critical etc.

(I saw that someone tried to outrage him for being once a taxi-driver in
USA. What is wrong about that ? Isn´t it a way of making a living ? And I
know many gambians here in Scandinavia who have struggled very very hard
taking any kind of job (selling newspapers etc.), and if they sooner or
later got a better job, a position in society, I never judge their
statements or opinions based on my knowledge of the kind of job they once
took to survive. Maybe I respect more what he/she is saying, because I
know it comes from a person who has survived on and has experience from such
a corner of the society. Just a thought)

Back to the gambia-l. Maybe I am naive, when I say, that IF we all could
behave, we maybe could be without all these technical disturbances and
distractions. It is the misbehavior (my opinion) of very few participants ,
which lead to many regulations, rules and technical arrangements.
