  Following revelation on Jammeh’s assets- EX- Lands Minister Maffy Jarju arrested!!!!
  Gambia’s secret agents are holding sacked Lands and Local government Minister Manlafy Jarju, the Freedom Newspaper gathered. Mr. Jarju who has been in custody for about a week, was said to have been detained by the NIA. NIA sources who spoke to this paper say Maffy was being investigated in connection with “security issues and land matters.”

  Maffy Jarju, who used to reside in the United States some years back joined the ruling APRC with the anticipation of securing a government job. As soon as he returns to the country, he was hired Minister by his brother President Yahya Jammeh, alongside with Dr. Amadou Scattered Janneh. It is gathered that Dr. Janneh’s appointment as Information Secretary was possible thanks to Maffy Jarju, who used to be in the good books of President Jammeh. For some reasons, the two fell out with Jammeh. They both appeared before the Paul anti corruption Commission. 
  During an appearance before the Commission, Mr.Jarju bragged that he was not poor as he was driving expensive cars in the United States and was also securing a highly paid job. But critics disagree with the disgraced Minister. They said Maffy was working with the Delta Airline and was impossible for him to claim such riches over night. 
  The self proclaimed computer engineer is today serving as a guest at the NIA head quarters. Despite previous advise for him and Dr. Janneh not to work with the Jammeh government, the two never heeded to popular will. They mortgaged their credibility for the sake of money and position. While the state is yet to press charges against Jarju, NIA sources say the former Minister is linked with wide range of issues. Our source said the investigators are quizzing him about the recent published lands of Jammeh and a host of others. The President, this paper gathered is increasingly worried about the information leakages. 
  Maffy Jarju is said to be owning couples of landed properties in The Gambia. He told the Paul Commission in an earlier appearance that he secured the said properties from his “hard earned” money and not from state coffers. Despite his previous denial of wrong doing and abuse of office, Maffy was indicted for corruption alongside with APRC propagandist and Chief mobiliser Yankuba Touray. Touray is still owing the state over D3Million dalasis. For some reasons, President Jammeh extended amnesty to Touray. His confiscated properties were returned to him while the likes of Maffy, former IGP Ebou Njie were being bullied by the State. 
  Maffy Jarju, who is believed to be a relative of the head of state was said to have been harassed whiles in custody. This paper gathered that the former Minister is denied access to his lawyer and family. Up to the time of going to press Maffy Jarju was in NIA custody.
