Mr. Sey, We follow with interest your sudden change of heart vis-a-vis to
President Jammeh and his Administration and also, we are deeply concerned
with the extent of the negativity, arrogance and self-serving diatribes
addressed to his Excellency, your former boss. This is extremely puzzling
to us making one question your credibility and integrity, as one remembers
quite vividly your statements made in Taiwan, France and the US praising
and supporting President Jammeh and his policies in the most strongest
terms. You were very busy luring in investors stating that the Gambia under
President Jammeh provide the best climate to do business. We also heard
what you said in Texas as a guest to their House of Reps and also your
declaration in Annapolis, MD while on an official visit there. We saw you
defending President Jammeh’s policies online and on various avenues.
Since your recall, you shifted from praise to profanity. Going online
spreading all kinds of stuff trying to portray the President as the worst
in the world, prophesizing that something is going to happen on the Ides of
April and the bleak list goes on. Many people are struggling to understand
why the shift? Some think that it is selfishness, egotism and the fact that
you lost your job. Instead of explaining the reason(s) behind your recall,
you went on the rampage as a wounded animal lashing out at the President
and at anybody that supports him. We believe that is not fair. The
President chose you to represent the Gambia in various capacities and later
in the process of serving, something happened and you were recalled. The
million- dollar question is why were you fired? How ungrateful one can be
to someone who went too far this level with you? We are trying to
understand your wounds, feel your pain and your consequent reaction after
the recall as that is human nature but to go this low is beyond our
comprehension.
Essa, you take great pride in your family roots, your bravery and
steadfastness in fighting the fight. DEM SA LAMBAJA DI YOBANTEH GALGAL. It
would have made more sense if you were on the ground, engaging the
President on issues rather than trying to show who you are or what you are
capable of doing or achieving
If you have valid concerns or issues, please raise them in a positive and
more mature manner. For God’s Sake you were an ambassador, a diplomat, a
supposedly intelligent man. Going online saying what you are saying is
quite telling. Where is Dr. Sedat Jobe, Baboucarr Blaise Jagne, Tombong
Saidy, etc.? Is this the best image you got? Rather than the bickering, the
show of anger and frustration, you should ask yourself what can you
positively contribute to help alleviate the conditions of Gambians. If
foreigners are asking us what can they do to help Gambia, where is our
sense of responsibility?
It is very sad that we spend valuable times demonizing President Jammeh,
dumping all kinds of dirt on him in the internet, and taking pride in it.
We go further trying to tarnish the image of the Gambia in the name of
hatred of President Jammeh. This is a disservice to our country. Can anyone
show us a web address where citizens of other countries do business the way
we do? President Jammeh is not as bad as you want us to believe. He is a
young Head of State who has done some great positive things for his country
and has a noble vision where he wants to see the Gambia. It is people like
you Mr. Sey whom he entrusted with responsibilities that failed us as a
nation. That is Intellectual dishonesty at its best. We at the ATLANTAAPRC,
realize that the President cannot do it alone and have decided to join
hands and rally behind him to achieve that noble vision. We expect to be
labeled all kinds of names after this posting, because some people will
never accept seeing others support him. But that is okay. They tend to
forget that the right they are claiming that allows them to oppose him is
the same we proclaim to support him. We need to train ourselves to accept
that there are people who embrace the President and that does not make them
any less patriotic.
Essa Sey, since the launching of your crusade against President Jammeh,
what have you achieved? Look at the damning allegations brought by Alieu
Sanyang! Did you hear Ebou Jallow very well? Are you not on the defensive
now? Don’t you think it is time to move on? We believe so. We are calling
on you to let go off the bitter, the character assassinations and the
hearsay, bury the hatchets and start building an atmosphere conducive to
dialogue and moving forward. The Gambia is ours all, so let us desist from
selling the idea of the “ides of April”. We all have our relatives there
and we are on a foreign land. Mark this Mr. Sey, nothing is going to happen
in April only some good news. Join us in our quest to move the Gambia
forward in the most positive manner. If the Israelis and the Palestinians
after all that transpired, can come to the table to prepare for their
children’s future, what are we waiting for?
Have a nice day.
CONCERNED CITIZENS.
