Gambia-L,
I was not able to respond to this issue raised by Katim but I am also appealing
to everyone to try and cut the size of the mails by reducing quoted texts in
their messages. The following is from the guide-lines of some of the lists
hosted by St. Johns and the same applies for Gambia-L too.

>Netiquette

Netiquette, Internet etiquette, is mainly watching your manners while
participating with the list. This includes keeping to topic, reducing quoting
and keeping signatures lines to a reasonable length.

St. Johns requires all listowners to enforce a policy of limited quoting and
signature lines (typically no more than four lines) or risk sanctions being
imposed upon their lists. It is recommended that the "Quote Original Message
when Replying" feature of your mail program be turned off.

* EDITING OF MESSAGES REPLIED TO
- trim all but what is absolutely essential
- quoted text should be less than new text
- never quote headers nor entire messages
- try not quoting at all, paraphrase as an alternative
