Hamadi and the rest,
Consider this racist remark from none other than John Maynard Keynes to
Isaiah Berlin in 1944, Washington at the height of the 1939-45 war:
'Have you ever noticed that Congress passes idiotic legislation in July and
August? It's far too hot for white men. All right for niggers. No good for
the likes of me'
Culled from Isaiah Berlin: A Life. By Michael Ignatieff. Ironically,
Ignatieff refers to this racist gibe modestly as a 'provocative insouciance.'
Karl Marx was also know for his violent and virulent racist outbursts.
Incidentally, being of Jewish extraction himself, he was a big anti-Semite.
He once said of Lassalle [who is unabashedly Jewish and doesn't hide his
Jewish sentiments] in a letter to Fredrich Engels, that he [Lassalle] is a
"Jewish Nigger", advancing the cynically the hypothesis that: Negro blood
must have entered his veins as the result of the racial admixtures acquired
by the Jews during the exodus from Egypt. The main text of the letter goes as
follows:
'As the shape of his head and the texture of his hair suggest, he is
descended from the Negroes who joined Moses in his exodus from Egypt [unless
his mother or paternal grandmother were crossed with a nigger). This union of
Jew and German with it's Negro source was bound to produce a strange hybrid.
The fellow's importunity is also Negro.' Werke, vol.30 (1974), pp.
257-9 Letter of 30 July 1862.
German Romantic nationalists like Fitche, Nietsche, Hammann, etc, etc were
never known to compromise their racist nonsense. Even Kant, temperate as he
may sound, is an unlikely source of racist and nationalist sentiments.
I hope this will help all of us realise the nature of the battle we now face
as a people. This battle is subtle and mental. And it behoves on all of us
who come across any such nonesense as aforementioned, to show it as
exaggerated and just racist myths. And to protest against it in the strongest
of all the terms.
