Jungle,
Thanks for that fwd. Mr. Sidi Sanneh made a very good point. We should take
advantage of such a good gesture from the US and make the best use of it. I
am sure the government did envision such coming. I remember when the new
airport was built, a lot of noise was made why such an expensive airport.
After three years, the world had changed and our airport is today rated
among the most secured and best landing ones in the subregion. Flying to
the Gambia today from the US is probably more easier than flying to any
where in the subregion.
Now the government is engaged in other infrastructures and that is the only
way to build our nation. Having businesses trust our system to invest in
would be the best that could happen to our nation.
We as Gambians have a lot of stake here and the way we take advantages of
such without ripping ourselves apart will be a test to the leadership and
the people.

Subject: Re: US Ambassador Sees Positive Trends in Gambia

Pa Modou,

Amb. Jackson McDonald has demonostrated significant goodwill towards Gambia
and its people. We must act in unison to build on this goodwill. I would
have liked very much to participate in the business forum which I discussed
with the Ambassador and Abdoulie Touray during my abbreviated stay in
Banjul recently. The success of the forum, meanwhile, will be measured by
the number of business partnerships that are consumated as a result.
Thanks for the post.

Sidi Sanneh
