The e-mail below came from a source in the heart of the Government. I have
to say that I edited some parts of it, especially the portion dealing with
Neneh Macdoul of GRTS.

Ebrima Ceesay

Ebrima,

Yahya Jammeh now suspects Demba Njie (his Protocol Officer) or Musa Jammeh
(one of his personal guards) of being "the moles" in his government. He
thinks either of the two is your source in his government because you wrote
something about him that I sent you, which was only known to the two men,
according to him. Well, Yahya, I have to tell you that it is neither of
these men who are blowing the whistle on you. You need to suspect everyone.

Please, be under no misapprehension: you have detractors at the very heart
of your government and in the nucleus of your circle of advisers. Be
assured that we know your thinking and your proposed action.

We know about your recent employment of two more Public Relations Firms in
the UK to rehabilitate your battered image. We fully understand the
desperate straits in which you find yourself as a "leader", and we are aware
of what your PR companies are advising. Be in no doubt, Yahya: your thinking
and your actions are like an open book for us!

Your PR firms will do their very best to persuade people that The Gambia is
functioning normally. However, you AND WE know that this is not the case at
all. All the people are now aware of the terrible state of our nation. We
all know from direct, first-hand experience that government files go missing
all to easily; that new governmental policies remain unimplemented; that the
customs and immigration departments are paralysed; that the police ADMITTED
to have lost control; that the Gambia National Army is in a state of
disarray and dissatisfaction.

We are also surviving in an economic climate close to collapse. Jammeh,
please do not lecture us on the happy state of the nation. We do know how
bad the situation is, and we know at whose feet we should lay the blame for
this current catastrophic situation.

We also know the serious condition of your marriage. Ebrima, Jammeh is
accusing First Lady Zeinab of infidelity. At the same time, our First Lady
is accusing her husband, the president, of infidelity with Neneh Macdoul, a
female Gambian journalist with Gambia TV. Neneh is presently based in
Kanilai, in the name of putting together a TV documentary of Jammeh’s life.
Zeinab is very suspicious of the closeness between Jammeh and Neneh and as a
result, she (Zeinab) did make her concerns known to Jammeh.

Ebrima, we all know that Neneh MacDoul is working hard to present our
president in favourable terms. I personally urge you, Neneh, in my role as a
brother to you, to be very mindful of your actions and of your husband’s
best interests. Do be careful that your work is not open to
misrepresentation. Please refrain from giving gossips reason or substance
for their tittle-tattle. Once you lose professional integrity and personal
sincerity, it becomes a hard task to regain these vital components of life
and living.

Ebrima, we are all watching and waiting for Jammeh’s New York trip: his spin
doctors are hard at work portraying this barbaric leader in a favourable
light, but no-one is fooled. Jammeh's reputation on the world political
stage has been spiralling rapidly downwards since 1996, and in the
international community, he is regarded as a buffoon and also as seriously
intellectually-limited. Under Jammeh, our country has become a laughing
stock.

Thanks as ever!
