In regards to the Y2K issue, every country in the world has had minor problems.  Therefore, for anyone to say that The Gambia was devoid of any problems would be a blatant lie.  Yes, our country does not depend on computers for most of our conveniences such as electricity, transportation etc etc.  But Gamtel does use computers for the phone systems and a problem with the switchboards might be consistent with a wider problem with our computers.
I find it a bit disturbing that our government is puposely misrepresenting the truth.  The arrest of Baba Galleh Jallow is consistent with a deliberate attempt by the hooligans in power to obstruct the free dissemination of information.  Who are we to believe now? I would rather take the word of fearless reporters like Mr. Jallow.
