Sidi and Jabou, I am enjoying every bit of the discussions on the above subject. And perhaps you and Jabou should send me a bill in Birmingham, and tell me how much money I should pay the two of you for the interesting information you are sharing. Well, it is an era of transparency!!! As a writer, this is certainly a story worth reading or knowing about. Jabou, I didn't realise that you went to the States so early - as early as 1968! Did you travel by car or by horse? (laugh!) Jabou and Sidi, as Gambian passport holders during those days, did you need a US visa when you were going to the States? And if yes, did you have to get it in the Gambia, or was the US Embassy in Dakar, Senegal, at the time? By the way, where does Alieu Faye, the soccer coach, fit/stand in all this? I mean Alieu Faye who is or was at Wabash College? And what about Sony Joiner, Koro Sallah? (Professor Arnold Hughes wrote somewhere that Koro was also trained in the US during this period I believe) There is also one Hydara Ceesay (I think he and Dr Karl Bayo were together in Chicago)? I also met a nice Gambian brother at Fatou Jaw Manneh's apartment in Washington DC, called Lamin Janha and my impression was that he is a USA veteran. He in fact told me that he started off in Ghana with lawyer Musa Bittaye, Pa Jallow and others, during the time of Dr Kwame Nkrumah. What about Amadou Taal, the former Permanent Secretary? In fact, I believe he went to the same University in Michigan, as Cherno Baba Jallow and Sidi's son. And speaking of Howard University, I think Bai Ousman Secka, a very smart and seasoned diplomat, also studied there. Jabou, Sara Ceesay in Atlanta is a relative/dad to me. Yes, he is a good pal of Babs Touray (Ex-NIB). By the way, if I remember well, Babs Touray studied together with the famous American hurdler, Edwin Moses, who was beaten in the Olympics' 400 Meters hurdle by Elhaji Amadou Dia Ba(h) of Senegal before he, Moses, retired from the Sports. Madiba Saidy: Message received; and by the way, do have a good weekend!
