go to Hyde Park's speakers corners and put all your finery on
display for the London masses to see and
hear. If there is a similar place in the US, maybe it's about time
someone points out to you guys!!
Something really touching, is happening
on this list. People who left The Gambia for over thirty years ago
to study or live in the west, especially
the USA, have found each other, probably after thinking that they shall
never see or hear from each other again.
Thanks to this medium, after so long, they have found each other.
That is so touching.
I follow all their exchanges, (though nostalgic),
for there is a message in it for us young ones. These guys (most of whom
are my parents' age) have helped each other out, and most of all, have
RESPECT for each other. We
should follow in their footsteps, so that
20,30 or a 40 years later, another generation of Gambians will see our
postings on the list( or a similar medium)
and our exchanges shall bring tears to their eyes.
Whatever, or whoever we think we are, these old folks (excuse me guys, am sure you are still young in spirit) have been there before us. We should listen and learn from them. We can disagree, but lets be mature with our choice of words.
NB. How many times does a person have to say, that they've made a mistake in saying something, and that they are sorry and take it back, before they are stopped being called liars? Does it mean that anytime that person disagrees with someone on the list, that tag will come flying out again? For christ's sake, let go!
