Excuse my french but you " DAMN RIGHT" Matarr. This should not just be a mere opinion but a FACT. The Independent newspaper owe it not just to these people quoted in their newpaper but to everyone on this List. We all have to be concerned 'cause there is not a single individual here who does not have relatives back home. Sure good ratings is one thing but to the extent of jeopardizing people's freedom of expression is a violation of every Constitution known to man except Mr. Jammeh , if you know what I mean. Hey, if Independent care about out concerns and wants to address them to the public, that's great publicity but they should first affiliate themselves to the Gambia-L. Second, they should BY ALL MEANS POSSIBLE consult with individuals prior to making these publications..Otherwise they should be called RADIO KANG KANG. I wonder whatever happens to INTEGRITY 'cause last I checked it was still in a twelve grade DICTIONARY.. Sorry folks but had to get this one off my chest,,AHHHHH! Ok, I think am starting to feel better. CHEERS:-) Matarr Moses Sajaw <[log in to unmask]> wrote: Yus, You made a good point. I felt the same way after reading the Independent newspaper. Although the Gambia list is a public domain, the members should not be put in uncompromising circumstances in the name of press freedom. This medium has had the kind of appeal that we have enjoyed due to unanimity and this must be protected especially if the identity of its members can pose potential risk. I am not condemning the Independent's efforts to bring to light the concerns of Gambians in Diaspora, but it must employ goodwill by first requesting permission. This is just an opinion. Keep pressing on.
