Thirteen Organisations To Monitor Senegal's Elections Thirteen Organisations To Monitor Senegal's Elections February 4, 2000 DAKAR, Senegal (PANA) - Thirteen international organisations, involved in electoral issues, have been invited as observers in the presidential election slated for 27 February in Senegal. President Abdou Diouf told the nation Thursday night that this is to ensure a "transparent and sincere" election. He said that he "took the initiative to invite international observers to come and freely and impartially monitor the vote." A list of the invitees include the West African Economic and Monetary Union, the Economic Community of West African States, the United Nations, the European Union, and the National Democratic Institute of the Atlantic.
