DAKAR, Senegal (PANA) - Three adolescent supporters of the Senegalese Democratic Party were wounded and two homes got looted in Thies Thursday during fresh clashes between supporters of the party and those of the ruling Socialist Party.

Incumbent President Abdou Diouf, who is candidate of the ruling party, and Abdoulaye Wade of the Senegalese Democratic Party were campaigning in Thies, 70 km from Dakar, when the incident occurred.

One of the victims received bullet wounds while the other was injured by a machete.

Front pages of local dailies Friday featured the pictures of vehicles calcined during the violence in Thies.

Similar incidents occurred in Thies during presidential campaigns in February 1988, won by Diouf.

The current campaign, which ends midnight Friday, has been marred by several violent incidents.
