PH.D. ASSISTANTSHIPS IN GEOGRAPHY, KENT STATE UNIVERSITY, KENT, OHIO

The Department of Geography at Kent State University has Ph.D. research
assistantships available for combined studies in Remote Sensing, GIS, and
landform studies.  The successful applicants will be expected to work in
advanced research projects with Landsat 7 data and Digital Elevation
Models.  Each assistantship carries a 12-month stipend of $12,000 plus a
full waiver of tuition.  The assistantships are renewable upon satisfactory
performance. Applicants should have an M.A. or M.Sc. in geography or a
related discipline.

The Department of Geography at Kent State University has laboratories that
house a wide variety of computer hardware and software to support remote
sensing and GIS research.  These include 6 UNIX servers, 30+ networked NT
workstations, 10 G4 Macintoshes, and PCI, ENVI, ERMapper, ESRI, Adobe
Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop software packages.  The Department of
Geography is an active member of Ohio GIS Network, OhioView, Kent State
University Water Resources Research Institute, and the Kent State
Visualization Group.
