Hello Pa Samba, I am very glad you brought this up. It is true that each and everyone of us should give back to our communities one way or the other. Some of us may have been very fortunate back home going to school in Pajeros and Mercedes Benzes and having our schooling taken care of. We all know the hard time that the people in The Gambia are experiencing now. There are families who cannot even provide more than one meal for their families, let alone worry about paying school fees or clothing for their families. Back to the subject of giving back to the community. We have a Gambian Community here in Seattle and we are doing just this. We are doing exactly what you suggested in your posting. We wanted to help kids back home have a good Education and not to worry about who is going to pay for it. We had a drawing here to select two schools from which we would select students to help. We selected Bansang and Kaur and invited applications from these kids. Our organization being very young could only sponsor one kid from each school until they finish high school. But, the applications were so overwhelming and touching that about ten members of our association decided to help out some of those kids from our own pockets. Just imagine a difference that you can make buy helping out the unfortunate ones. I hope Gambian Assocaitions all around the world would take a good look at this. I am positive there are people who have good causes towards the development of our brothers and sisters in Gambia. As Pasamba said and we all know it does not take much to help someone in Gambia pay for their school and books. It is a problem that I am sure we all can tackle. Thank you again Pasamba for suggesting this.
