Mr. H. Sallah:

I never thought for a moment that we cannot talk. As a matter of fact, I am
just your little brother asking you to go back to what you are good at. Your
previous tenacity and conviction during our high school days made a lasting
effect on me. I have not seen you for over 20 years, but I'm certain you've
not changed.

I hope you've understood my constant nagging because you are so vital in the
struggle to unseat dictator yahya jamus. A story was told of your fellow who
left home to attend high school in Banjul. He never understood why a nice
Wollof lady would give him porridge on his way to Saint Augustine's High
School. He became so worried that he had to take Lancaster and Perseverance
Streets. (Please excuse my lapse of memory, this little boy was hungry.) As
time progressed, he became so full with guilt that he had to take Primate
Street to see the same nice lady. She became furious and asked: "Are you not
Jattanding Jassey's son." Brother Halifa, I do not want to repeat the same
analogy and that was why I kept on trying to reach at you. Your previous
crusade for democracy cannot go in vain especially at this critical time.

I was impressed with your willingness to join other opposition members if the
dictator does not tally 50% in the first round of the presidential elections.
Brother Halifa, this is a calculated risk. Why wait to give the dictator
another opportunity to further divide us? Please do some soul searching.
Remember that our struggle to free The Gambia must be in remembrance of
innocent citizens killed, tortured, rape, robbed and denied their right to
decency. Please further remember the recent adoption of members of MOJA(G).
With our unity, The Gambia shall be free. Please let us act in the name of
Allah, the merciful.

Comrade,

ML Jassey-Conteh
