WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE COMMISSION OF INQUIRY ON THE DISTURBANCES OF APRIL 10 AND 11? FOROYAA has been receiving many enquiries concerning the fate of the Commission of Inquiry into the Disturbances of 10 and 11 April 2000. The Coroner's Inquest has been completed. The report is supposedly submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers. The Coroner was requested to appear before the Commission of Inquiry. There was talk of incorporating the Coroner's Report with the report of the Commission of Inquiry. Everything is at a standstill and nothing is being said by anyone. It is, therefore, essential to raise the alarm that people are still interested in knowing about the outcome. This should also be done without delay. The speed with which allegations of coup d'etat and murder are brought before the courts emphasises all the more the need for speedy justice in this important case. Those responsible for the inquiry should inform the public what is really going on. We hope the public will be duly informed of developments without any delay. The slogan of the student was that justice delayed is justice denied. It is, therefore, necessary to back principles with action. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
