Daily Observer Posted Monday, August 7, 2000 by Editor UDP Leader, Ousainou Darboe, has vowed to his supporters that before September 15th, he will remove Banjul mayor, Samba Faal, and KMC chairman, Abdoulie Conteh, from office. Following the Basse incident, the police refused to issue the UDP permit to hold political rallies but the IEC has since ordered the IGP to issue the party with a permit. The Police accede to the IEC demand and issued the UDP with a permit enabling them to hold a rally near Serekunda Primary School on Saturday. Addressing his party supporters, Ousainou Darboe said the continued holding of office of Mayor Faal Chairman of KMC Abdoulie Conteh was unconstitutional. He said he will file action against them, as well as against all acting chiefs in the Supreme court to challenge the legality of their continued stay in office. The UDP he said stands on “ three stones”, namely, Justice, Peace and Progress.
