Mr. Jow, A very good observation. Any such debate of national importance concerning The Gambia should be organize in The Gambia, to allow all and sundry to participate rather than a few cliche of individuals. Why in a third country? It is also important to note that this debate will be more beneficial to Gambians if it had been between the leaders of the various political parties in the Gambia. Arrangements could be made to have Dr. Saga Taal, Hamat Bah, Lamin Jawura, and Halifa to debate on the various party policies so as to help the Gambian electorate determine who is best to represent them and to address their needs and aspirations. I should add that following the debate between Halifa and Hamjatta on the L I didn't see the need for such a forum to be convened for the fact that Hamjatta has not raised any sincere or constructive criticisms of PDOIS that should warrant this debate, but it is always important for leaders to be ready to engage their critics in a meaningful debate to ensure that there isn't any distortion of facts. Halifa needs to be commended for never shying to take up a debate on matters of national interest. I would however hope that representatives and leaders of other political parties will emulate Halifa and PDOIS in order to ensure an enlightened and democratic Gambia. I would infact be willing to contribute towards Halifa's ticket to the UK.
