Operating within the confines of deliberately flawed terms of reference whose main objectives were specifically designed to absolve the man ultimately responsible, both the coroner and the commission of enquiry has cobbled together their 'findings'. It is abundantly clear at best these findings would attempt to restate the tragic nature of the whole affair and skirt the most pertinent aspect of culpability. Using judicial chicanery, insincere expression of regret and other insidious tactics, the President, Pap Cheyasin Secka and the rest of their enablers would in the guise of "consideration' attempt to delay even these flawed reports indefinitely. In the meantime the President is doing his best to ingratiate himself to the youths and students by arranging public meetings with teachers Union representatives, nurses reps, rap groups and also using surrogates like Baba Jobe and Sarja Taal and others to bribe or otherwise try to Copt youth groups through activity sponsorship or job offers. Earlier this week he visited RVH and professed to be stunned at the fetid nature of the nation's only major hospital and staying true to his normal public relations gimmick he promised a few thousand Dalasis of his foundation money to buy blankets . He doesn't care about the fate of the tens of thousands of Gambians who are dying debilitating deaths in these shells of hospitals because he has chosen to spend the nation's scarce resources to ferry his wife to expensive hospitals in America for pre and post natal care. This guy and his cronies are the quintessential embodiment of evil and would stop at nothing to maintain themselves. They are also acutely aware that these reports would find their way to the public domain in as much as they would prefer that never see the light of day. Infact the BBC reported yesterday that the commission report names specific security commanders and individuals as being directly responsible for the shootings. Yahya Jammeh would either have to say they acted on their own in shooting the kids in which case they would have to be charged with murder and duely tried in a court of law. It is my believe that those individuals already severely burdened by their creul acts with all the religious implications of murder would stick to the categorical assertion that they were following orders. Ultimately command responsibility for what happened on April 10 and 11 would rest squarely where it rightly belongs and that is none other than Yahya Jammeh. All these public relations efforts on his part is geared toward extricating himself from the massive atrocity he designed and executed. Drenched in the blood of the 14 children he now wants to cleanse himself by doling out the monies he stole from the people in a cynical attempt to buy himself absolution. The nation would never fall for his ploy. Yahya Jammeh is a certified murderer. Gambians must hold him accountable.
