AMC Statement on the Loss of Lives Aboard the USS Cole and the Bombing of
the British Embassy in Yemen
(Washington D.C., Oct. 13)---The American Muslim Council expresses its
regret at the death of the American soldiers killed during yesterday's
attack on the USS Cole as it was refueling at Aden Harbor in Yemen.
There are currently thousands of American Muslims who serve in the U.S.
Armed Forces. We offer our condolences to the families of the soldiers
killed and pray for the well being of those wounded in the tragedy.
AMC also wishes to state that it does not condone the bombing of the British
Embassy in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen. Acts of terrorism are not proper
means by which to conduct political discourse. In light of the crisis we are
facing in Palestine, violence has proven to have a high price attached to
it.
"We call upon the global community to work to achieve peace and quell the
violence that our Palestinian brothers and sisters are being subjected to.
No one should add fuel to the fire," said AMC Executive Director Aly
Abuzaakouk.
