Mo, Can we have the names of all 700 and something subscribers? If not I can only say "Good timing" to Amadou Scattred Janneh for adding a new member to the List on this joyous day. Congrats Scatt!!! Prince. ----- Original Message ----- From: Momodou Camara <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2001 21:54 Subject: Fifth Anniversary of Gambia-l Greetings to all, Today being the fifth anniversary of the Gambia-l I am sending warm greetings every one on the list especially Dr. Katim Touray, Tony and Sarian Loum, Dr.A .S Janneh, Dr. Malanding S. Jaiteh and all the other original members who are present on the list. The precursor to Gambia-L was a mailing list started in 1994 by Dr. Katim Touray, following the overthrow of the Jawara government. The rapid growth of the Internet resulted in more Gambians getting online and consequently an increase in the number of subscribers to the original mail list. This, together with a number of factors, warranted a much more powerful and flexible list management system. Fortunately, the University of Washington in Seattle provided this facility, resulting in the launch of Gambia-L on January 31, 1996. Gambia-l was moved to St. Johns University in New York on May 19, 1999. From the relatively few members such as Katim Touray, Amadou S. Janneh, Malanding Jaiteh, Lamin Drammeh (Japan), Roddie Cole, Sammy Bruce Oliver, Sarian Loum, Momodou Camara, Abdou Touray, Morro Ceesay, Latjorr Ndow, Modou Kolley, Sarjo S. Bojang and Famara Sanyang the list has now grown to 792 subscribers. Thanks to all those active subscribers for keeping the list alive. Best regards, Momodou Camara ******************************************************* http://home3.inet.tele.dk/mcamara **"Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible"*** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html You may also send subscription requests to [log in to unmask] if you have problems accessing the web interface and remember to write your full name and e-mail address. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html You may also send subscription requests to [log in to unmask] if you have problems accessing the web interface and remember to write your full name and e-mail address. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
