Sister Jabou and other G-Ler's, we owe members and supporters of MRDG [UK] and leaders of various opposition party leaders and representatives, that attended the London meeting, a high five or ten for all their efforts. KUDOS/NJARAAMAH/ABARAKA/JAEREH JAEF. As Sister Jabou inquired, MRDG[NY] had a meeting today and this issue was the third item on the agenda. Congressman Payne's Sixth Annual Dinner is next week and the Movement is sending two members to the $175/person gala. Perhaps, you, Katim, Joe and others can help structure such a forum with selective Members of Congress or Senate, especially, those on African Affairs Committees. A follow up letter of inquiry into the status of Gambians residing abroad voting during elections, is being sent to the Chairman of IEC. As disenfranchised citizens yearning to get involved in the electoral process and support of opposition parties, one of our erudite elder member of the Movement, did an impromptu survey of about twenty Gambians regarding funding of causes such as: voting and financial support of opposition parties. Out of the twenty, seventeen pledged $50 and the rest $25 each. A campaign to have each Movement member solicit pledges of $25 and up from ten Gambian friends or family and canvassing door-to-door, will surely make a big difference. A duplication of such a campaign by concerned Gambians in the USA and elsewhere, individual or organizational, would for sure make us a force to reckon with. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html You may also send subscription requests to [log in to unmask] if you have problems accessing the web interface and remember to write your full name and e-mail address. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
