Baba Jobe, the former APRC candidate for Jarra West, has urged the people of the district not to look up to him as their candidate in the next legislative elections if they failed to vote for President Yahya Jammeh in the October presidential polls. The assistant secretary at the Office of the President was speaking at a mass rally at Kani-Kunda Jarra West, last Sunday. He said it was high time that the people of Jarra reconsidered their allegiance to the main opposition UDP and advised them to rally behind the APRC party because it was out to improve their living standards. Mr Jobe said it was meaningless for the Jarrankas to remain opposed to the government when UDP supporters and stalwarts in the capacity of National Assembly members are quitting to the APRC. He alleged that the minority leader Kemeseng Jammeh could only do little to bring development and progress to their door steps, adding that the leadership of the APRC believed in peace, unity and development and had no evil intention for The Gambia. The National Assembly member for Jarra Central, Foday Lang Sarr, told the Jarra West constituents to vote Baba Jobe in and to forego voting along tribal lines. Hon Sarr explained that the milling machines distributed by Kemeseng Jammeh among villages in Jarra West were not provided by him, but were gifts from the Canadian Fund. During the meetings, one Nyima Saidykhan, said to be a strong supporter of the UDP, cross-carpeted to the APRC . Fatou Njie, wife of the Jarra West chief ,Yaya Jarjusey, said the youth in Jarra West were in support of Baba Jobe. Other speakers included Saikou Drammeh, Bakotonding Saidykhan, Yassin Dibba and Momodou Sohna Saidykhan. The meeting was chaired by Bakary Dampha.
