Mr. Sallah, I'm simply dumb-founded that even after several clarifications, you're still latching on to the wrong vine! For the last time, get this: this controversy has got ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Harona's right to identify, or otherwise with any particular political party. It's about INTEGRITY. There's a difference between saying because of my job, or other connections, I can't afford to identify publicly with any party, and saying that I'm "neutral" when in fact that's not true. Mr. Sidi Sanneh who's elderly and works for the ADB has professed such a position on this forum. How many people have you seen questioning his integrity? What's special about Harona? And for the record: I don't know Harona Drammeh from Adam. I've never met the fellow. Neither do I know anything about some of the people he worked with back home. Most definitely never heard of a Fat Sanneh. I may be many things Mister, but I'M NOT a liar! I relayed EXACTLY what someone told me yesterday. (Unless if you want to suggest that I made the story up. I have'nt lived a single day under Yaya Jammeh's rule.) So, you can believe, or think what you want. I have no problems there. But don't even try lying about me. That's what got me started on Harona in the first place. Kebba Jobe Daddy Nying was here these past two months spewing utter rubbish. Can you look at yourself in the mirror and say that "Saul was intolerant of Kebba Jobe's views?" Did you not see me consciously back-off to let the man have his day -even though I believe with all my heart that him, and his types are worse than Yaya Jammeh, and much of what he was saying was garbage? So, if I can tolerate Kebba Jobe Daddy Nying, why would I have ANY problems tolerating Harona Drammeh? So, for the sake of basic decency, LOOK AT the issue in question NOT THE NAMES of the people involved. You'll see the truth if you would do that. And one last thing Mr. Sallah, I'll let you know when I need YOU to respect my opinion since you're the self-annointed custodian of "opinions to respect." Ousman: There's right, and there's wrong. There's honesty, and there's dishonesty. There's integrity, and there's hypocrisy. We all make choices as to where we'll be. I hope you'll make the right one. We are where we are as a nation, not because we are intolerant per se, but because so many of us close our eyes to the truth, and injustice. If most of our people were truthful, we wouldn't -at this point- even be worrying about an opposition victory at all. We'll be trying to guess the magnitude. Because the issues, and the players are all VERY CLEAR. It's a clear-cut case of Good V. Evil, Night V. Day. But we are in this present position because like I said to Kebba JD Nying too many of us deem the pursuit of material things to be exculpatory: As long as money is coming him, never mind the source, or the means of getting it. Anything goes. With that kind of mentality, how can we in good conscience fault the opposition for not carrying the day? What is "good" suppose to do when so many "nice," and "decent" folks, are so very willing to sell their integrity for money? Maybe what we need is a Standard to guide us, something objective. As it is, the notion of what constitutes "tolerance" and "intolerance" is blurred. To some, it's the description of abuse meted to innocent opponents. To others, it has become a hypocritical cloak to hide under, even if the label of such "intolerance" is precipitated by others' expression of outrage at one's buttressing of a brutal and degenerate autocracy. So Ousman, we need a National debate to set Standards, just so we can all understand what terms like "tolerant" and "intolerant" means. 'Cause I'm at a total loss... Good morning and I'll talk to you soon. Saul. LERS , The level at which some members of the Gambia L are treating some of our compatriots who seems to profess a divergent view on our varied political tapestry is to say the least, very disgusting and intolerant. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html You may also send subscription requests to [log in to unmask] if you have problems accessing the web interface and remember to write your full name and e-mail address. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
