Lawyer Darboe would be embarking on a multinational tour later this month to meet and solicit the support of Gambians and friends of Gambia in the United States and Western Europe. Mr Darboe would be accompanied by at least one other member of the UDP executive and is tentatively scheduled to arrive in the US on the 22 of May.The main purpose of the trip is for Mr Darboe to provide a detailed briefing to Gambians especially to the vast numbers who may not be ardently following events back home about the state of affairs and what he and his party would do as a government. A direct objective is to persuade Gambians to recognize that the stakes for our country have never been higher with the shape, constitution and the very essence of our society all riding on fateful decisions that must made later this year. He would emphasize that a successful reversal of the literal enslavement of our people that Yahya and his gang of murderers have almost consummated would require our collective involvement. Another very important component in this tour would be the opportunity Mr Darboe and his delegation would have to listen to specific ideas from a broad cross section of our people. That is why all appearances would be structured to allow for a presentation by Mr Darboe and his party followed by a question and answer session. A series of fund raising sessions are planned, the first of which would be held on Friday evening between 6.00pm -11.00pm (May 25) in Silver Spring MD. It would be held at the Unitarian Presbyterian Church on NewHampshire Ave. The big Church auditorium would be a comfortable venue for the added crowd in town for the ALD. Please make arrangements to come and help out. We would be holding similar fund raising events in NewYork, Atlanta and Seattle .I would post dates for those events as soon as the modalities are worked out.
