Bush Picks Ambassador to Gambia

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush (news - web sites) has picked veteran
diplomat Jackson McDonald as ambassador to Gambia.

McDonald, whose selection was announced Thursday, currently is deputy chief
of mission in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He has been stationed previously in
Liberia, France, Russia and Lebanon.

McDonald also served in Washington as political officer in the State
Department's Office of Pakistan, Afghanistan (news - web sites) and
Bangladesh Affairs.
