Hamet, thanks for your response.  It did not escape me at all.  Like all of us with foreign names, it was our parents' choosing.  So, I did not have a say in their choice of a name for myself.  With my own kid though, I have a choice, and it is African.  We cannot keep on passing the buck.  Like Buhary said, we should adopt the good from colonialism and discard all that continues to marginalize our culture.  Thanks for your observation.
