Ebrima, Get your facts right. I had an EEC scholarship and not a Gambia Government scholarship. Irecieved my air ticket from Mrs Reeves on the 25th August 1983 and left for England on the 7th September. And do you know why I could not get a Gambia Government scholarship? Because I did not have an uncle at the GTTI who would give me an apprentice job I was not competent to handle. Remember how, some six months after your appointment to that position Radio ran adverts for a week inviting suitably qualified Gambians to apply for the same position? According to the advert, applicants needed to have X GCE A’ Levels or Y O’Levels or atleast 6 months apprenticeship in a recognized institution. And guess what; I was the guy who tutored you privately for free. Since this is the way you want to reward, what can I say? All the best, Pamodou. >From: Jabou Joh <[log in to unmask]> >Reply-To: The Gambia and related-issues mailing list ><[log in to unmask]> >To: [log in to unmask] >Subject: Re: Ebrima Ceesay - FYI >Date: Sat, 14 Jul 2001 09:45:35 EDT > >In a message dated 7/14/2001 7:34:32 AM Central Daylight Time, >[log in to unmask] writes: > >"and you know that I have not benefitted, especially in terms of Government >scholarships like you have enjoyed, from the former regime > > People are only speaking out because we care and love our >country/people, > > but some of us are better placed in the West than being in The Gambia." > > >Ditto Ebrima, It was not a Gambia government scholarship that paid for my >studies either.
