Gambia-l:

I was on a six-week business trip to Senegal and The Gambia recently.  Upon my return, I posted the following to another List.

Here are what I consider to be the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly things about The Gambia.
THE GOOD
1. Road construction, particularly in the Kombo Coastal area (Gunjur-Brikama completed)
2. Direct flights to the USA
3. Teranga (hospitality) in spite of the hard times
4. People are speaking out
5. Opportunities to party / socialize (escape from reality)

THE BAD
1. The Dalasi's plunge
2. It seems going to America is on everyone's mind
3. Overcrowding in the Greater Banjul
4. Checkpoints for police officers to supplement their incomes
5. Poverty is clearly on the increase

THE UGLY
1. The NIA is in the business of terrorizing innocent citizens
2. GRTS is no more than a propaganda arm of the APRC
3. Jammeh continues to usurp power
4. The Constiitution is written in pencil
5. An excess of praise-singers and folks who flip-flop

It's my view, of course!

sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon
must inevitably come to pass" (J. Meyer).
