Ebrima, Do you have any information about Arthur, the Gambian kid who was reported to be tryingout with Man U? Coach ----- Original Message ----- From: Ebrima Ceesay Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2001 1:32 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Attention Kebba Jobe Kebba Jobe, I have seen your posting entitled "Absolutely Diabolical", in which you indicated that I lived close to Chongan. You asked me if I knew Pa Jatta (Mike). I am curious about your identity. You seem to know about my time in the Latrikunda Bakadaji area. When I read your mail, I began to suspect that you are actually Pa Modou Gassama of Gamtel. Why do I come to this conclusion ?? Well, there was a previous e-mail that you sent to Gambia-L, in which you stated that you were an Engineer working for Gamtel. You also debated with Lamin Manneh on the issue of the so-called defection of Almamy Touray, and you said that you knew the Kuntaur, Niani area more than him. In fact, you Kebba Jobe, claimed that you are yourself from Kuntaur (Niani). There was also another mail in which you mentioned, that during the period of the execution of Ken Sara Wiwa in Nigeria, this found you in the UK and watching the news on Channel Four TV. You said you were studying here then in the UK. When Saiks Samateh returned to Norway from The Gambia recently, he said on the Gambia-L that he had met Kebba Jobe, and that Kebba Jobe (without disclosing who he was) was actually a Senior Planner/Engineer at Gamtel. Today, you sent an e-mail captioned "Absolutely Diabolical" in which you talk about where I used to live, where Chongan used to live, and where Pa Jatta (Mike) lived. Now having read your posting this afternoon, all my journalistic instincts tell me that you are Pa Modou Gassama who used to live opposite the Latrikunda football field at Pa Bekai Sosseh’s compound. This Pa Modou Gassama attended Armitage High School, taught briefly at Latrikunda Secondary Technical School, and later studied engineering in the UK. Pa Modou is originally from the Kuntaur area, and has a younger brother called Musa Gassama (not the Magistrate, but the man who used to be an Accountant in the President’s office in State House.) The reason I suspect your identity as Pa Modou Gassama, is because as Saiks hinted, the person writing as Kebba Jobe, is actually a planner/engineer at Gamtel. When you mentioned Pa Jatta (Mike), and given all the hints you have passed on about yourself in the past, then I said to myself that you could well be Pa Modou Gassama who used to vous at Sakura’s Art Studio in Latrikunda (owned by the talented Gambian Artist Njogou Touray). I have to say, if you are whom I suspect you to be, then I am taken aback. The Pa Modou that I used to know was a man of great integrity, who benefited in terms of professional training from Gamtel in the Jawara years. That Pa Modou that I used to know and respect would never come here to this mailing list pretending to be a Jawara "victim". If you are not Pa Modou Gassama, well – I have failed this time to identify you correctly again !, but be sure that I shall continue to attempt to ascertain your true identity. Let readers of this mail note that I am not categorically identifying you as Pa Modou Gassama, but circumstantial evidence would seem to point to you as this man. Let me add a bit of humour here !! Next time you write to Gambia L, tell me more about our mutual acquaintances in the Latrikunda area !!! Where are Seedy Faal, Pa Matarr Touray, O. Touray, Beran Sosseh, Pa Antou Jammeh (Banks) and the rest ???? Some time ago I spoke by chance to Joe Gaye in Norway on the telephone and we talked about the Nawettan football in those years. Ebrima Ceesay, Birmingham, UK PS: Pa Samba Jow (Coach): I am glad that you are still following soccer in the USA through Fox Sports World, owned by Rupert Murdoch. Ironically, he also owns Sky Sports in the UK, which shows live Premiership matches. In fact, in August he is starting another channel called Premiership Plus where you can order matches which are not shown on the normal package. This coming Championship is going to be exciting: I can’t just wait for it to start !! Today, Manchester United unveiled their new signing, Argentinian play-maker Juan Veron at a cost of 28 million pounds plus. As for my team Arsenal, it was the scoop of the year for us to have signed Sol Campbell. We needed a towering figure like Sol in the squad. I am disturbed though, because reports coming out from Spain monitored here through Sky Sports News are saying that Zenedine Zidane insists that Real de Madrid MUST get Patrick Vierra from Arsenal to partner him in the forthcoming season. Vierra’s agent Roger Marc, who is also Nicola Arnelka’s agent, has a record of destabilising players. I suspect that we might lose Vierra, even though his contract still has three years to run. Of course, Arsenal have made it loud and clear that Vierra is not for sale, but in football you never say no !! Let’s hope that Gambian soccer will one day achieve great heights internationally, and that we shall see Gambians playing in the really big leagues in Europe. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html You may also send subscription requests to [log in to unmask] if you have problems accessing the web interface and remember to write your full name and e-mail address. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------Get more from the Web.
