LAMIN GETS 2 MILLION DALASI PROJECT

by Momodou Gassama

SoS for local government and lands presided over the allocation of a plot of land to the people of Lamin earmarked for a market and other social amenities including a car park. The area allocated to the Lamin people was originally a property of NARI under the
Agriculture Department. It was through the intervention of SoS Sallah and Ceesay that NARI gave out about 200 square metres of the plot. SoS Ceesay urged the communities to take good care of the facilities .

He said the area allocated was purposely for the construction of a market and a car park. SoS agriculture, Hassan Sallah, thanked the women for their turn out and stressed the need to unite under one banner and give their support to the government. He urged the women to keep up their good work. Mbemba Bojang, the alkalo of the village, thanked the SoS for lands and agriculture for their personal participation. The local government officer, Mr Cham
remarked that his office would formalise arrangements so that work could start.

He said already, the market project had been approved and Gamworks was funding it to the tune of 2 million dalasis with counterpart contribution coming from his office. The youth leader, Jerrehnding Sanyang, said the market was strategically located, accessible to residents of Lamin, Banjulinding, Kerewan and Makumbaya. "Lamin is a gate for the country and needs face lifting," Mr Sanyang said.
