Dear Lamin, The only reason why Jammeh and his Alliance of Puppets, Rogues and Cannibals (APRC)are at pains to defend Baba Jobe from his indictment by the UN as a blood diamonds and arms dealer is neither because they love him(Jobe)so much nor is it that he is innocent of the charges, it is simply as a result of the hidden connotations that this indictment bears upon Jammeh and the APRC regime. In case you are oblivious of this fact,Jammeh and his diplomatic apparatus led by Dr Seedat Jobe are not,as evidenced by the extent to which they are ready to defend Baba Jobe.Isn't it an open secret that Baba Jobe is Jammeh's number one henchman and international arms procurer who affiliated the regime with the likes of Col. Qaddaffi. There are two attributes that Jammeh shares with Western leaders whom he like to potray as his mortal enemies;first is their hypocrisy,in that they would both respectively add fuel to wars while parading as international peace-makers.The 'Diamonds war' in S/Leone has 3 sides:The Government and the so-called international community on one side;the RUF rebels discretely supported by Qaddaffi, Taylor, Jammeh and Campaore on the other hand in exchange for diamonds and thirdly; the innocent people of S/Leone who are the victims in this unfortunate equation and whose rights the other two sides proclaim to fight for and try to sway to their side.Jammeh is a filthy rich man not only through the Late Abacha or from the Gambian treasury but also from his role as an arms agent for Libya, Cuba, former Communist European countries like Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and the former Yugoslavia. His chief agent in this role is none other than Baba Jobe. While preaching Pan-Aficanism, Jammeh like his master Qaddaffi practices the destruction of Africa, the blood of the innocent in the Gambia, Cassamance and S/Leone smears his hand. This is a depiction of Jammeh's hypocrisy. The second common attribute he shares with Western policy-makers is his obsession with acquiring wealth as a means of consolidating his political and economic influence over the deprived and oppressed masses and even his genuine supporters. Both would go at any length to realise this objective, even if it means innocent people dying in their thousands or millions, for Jammeh liberation means to unscrupulously enrich himself to be able to throw his bread crumbs to people like you who worship him, for those who don't; he and his cronies classify such as unpatriotic and agents of the West. It is either a result of sheer arrogance or selfishness that people like you defy their conscience not to stand for the truth or do you plead ignorance to the facts? How can you justify your assertion that "Jammeh has tried to bring us together than any of our political leaders"?The opposite is indeed true,he has more than all of them tried to divide Gambians along tribal lines. In the last elections campaign, for instance,he and his machinery campaigned along the lines that the great majority of Mandingos are against his regime because they lost power to him; a Jola as a ply to unite the other ethnic groups against the Mandingos. It might have worked but this time, he was cut short from the same trick by OJ, much to his embrassment. Is this version of tribalism what trying to unite Gambians represent to you.In the early days of the failed revolution he also tried to incite the youths against the older generation and what did he do to the justice-loving youths in April 2000,he ordered them brutally massacred by his death squad. Can't you also see from the sharing of cabinet portfolios that Jammeh only entrust his tribesmen with the top security and finance posts of the land.If this is not tribalism, what then is? Whoever you are, clear your conscience by admitting the thruth that Jammeh and his regime is a shatterer of unity and not a uniter and therefore: The yoke of oppression must be shattered!
