APRC militants clash with UDP convoy Ebo Town was the scene of a violent clash between a small group of APRC militants and a UDP convoy heading for a meeting at the town Friday. According tou our reporter the UDP convoy was suddenly intercepted and attacked by a group of APRC militants who appeared from nowhere.Brandishing APRC party flags the ruling party supporters blocked the convoy, forcing them to a stop. Soon a protracted missile war ensued between the two groups who were not prepared to give way. However, other UDP supporters jumped down from their vehicles to fight back. The APRC supporters who were the smaller of the two groups fled swiftly like a gazelle and took refuge in the compound, of someone described as a staunch APRC sympathiser. Spoiling for action the UDP boys decided to storm the compound but were subsequently restrained by Omar Jallow (O.J) the leader of the convoy who told his supporters to remain calm. He exulted them saying he was not interested in such confrontation. Nevertheless, it was confirmed that the brief brush caused one causality in the name of Buba Mballow of Manjai Kunda. A flying missile had hit him in the head and he was immediately rushed to a pharmacy for medical attention. Dodou Sanneh a UDP youth leader warned the APRC supporters to be mindful."If they don't stop this the consequence will be very dangerous", he warned. Juana Sarr a member of the party's women's wing in Ebo Town urged party supporters to distance themselves from any problems that could ignite cross party confrontation. She advised them to ignore every insult. In the same vein, Sarjo Singhateh the UDP Chairman in Ebo Town remarked that although they were not there to cause trouble anybody who to provoke them should expect them (UDP) to defend themselves.
