Petty and destructive are fair adjectives to describe the current unhealthy and less than amicable exchanges. I do not think any one has monopoly over the truth. However since our main and common goal is to unseat Jammeh I would urge all of us to remain focused and to keep the debate constructive and productive.
I always dream of that day when we can all sit back and congratulate ourselves on our roles in not only restoring a democratic 3rd Republic that we can all be proud of but also ushering in an environment where tolerance and justice reign ... Where people with so called noble blood will not brag about being more equal than the rest of us. It is only then that our beloved motherland can think of carving an enviable spot on the map of world democracies.
It is a tough challenge yet I am convinced that with a little bit of will power, we can do it for as the old adage goes, “where there is a well there is always a way”. We owe this to ourselves, to our children and to our children’s children
Very warmly,
Mariama
