Darboe confident of capturing URD The flag bearer and leader of the coalition, Ousainou Darboe held rallies in Allunhari and Kanyibeh in the URD on Wednesday October 10, attended by a large number of supporters. Addressing supporters in Allunhari, Darboe said his party had the total support of the people. “Before the overthrow of the constitutional government of PPP, there was no travel visa between The Gambia and the European countries but Jammeh’s government brought about that,” Darbo alleged. Mr Darboe also alleged that on September 1, The Gambia should have joined other African countries to promote tourism for this year’s tourist season in Britain but was not given the greenlight by the British. Dilating on the weak relationship with Britain, Darboe said this could have great impact on our socio- economic development. He alleged that President Jammeh was to travel to London to attend the meeting of the Commonwealth countries but the British refused to grant him security. He vowed that if the coalition was voted into office, Gambians would travel to all European countries without visa. He urged the people of Allunhari not to use the money given to them by President Jammeh for the construction of their central mosque. Other speakers included Alhajie Dembo Tunkara, Alhaji Kaw Sillah, Aja Kujarju krubally and Alhaji Sankareh, youth leader. It was reported that 315 people defected to the UDP. At Kanyibeh, Mr Darboe told the people that Jammeh was ruling for his own interest. He said farmers had suffered much under Jammeh's rule as their groundnut were not bought for the past three years. The entourage also held similar rallies in Bantanto and Sare Bojo.” _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp <<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>> To view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html <<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>
